for 4 bottles of 0.7 L each
- 2 liters apple juice
- 180 g brown sugar
- 180 g white sugar
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 2 vanilla pods
- 2 star anise
- 750 ml dark rum
Pour the apple juice, both types of sugar, cinnamon sticks, and star anise into a pot.
Scrape the vanilla pods and add the seeds to the apple juice mixture. Also add the scraped vanilla pods to the pot.
Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
Let it cool for about 5–10 minutes, then strain out the vanilla pods, star anise, and cinnamon sticks.
Stir in the rum.
Prepare four bottles. Using a funnel, fill the bottles with the liquid and seal them immediately.
The liqueur can be tasted right away, but it’s best to let it steep for about 4 weeks for full flavor.
